  §  80.277   Ship Security Alert System (SSAS).

   (a) Vessels equipped with a Ship Security Alert System pursuant to the
   Safety Convention or 33 CFR 101.310 may utilize:

   (1) Equipment that complies with RTCM Paper 110–2004/SC110–STD, “RTCM
   Standard 11020.0—Ship Security Alert Systems (SSAS) using the
   Cospas-Sarsat System,” Version 1.0, June 4, 2004; or

   (2) INMARSAT D+ equipment; or

   (3) Equipment that complies with the technical specifications found in
   this subpart.

   (b) RTCM Paper 110–2004/SC110–STD is incorporated by reference. The
   Director of the Federal Register approves this incorporation by
   reference in accordance with 5 U.S.C. 552(a) and 1 CFR part 51. Copies
   of these standards can be inspected at the Federal Communications
   Commission, 445 12th Street, SW., Washington, DC (Reference Information
   Center) or at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
